about rethm

      Rethm is a relatively young audio equipment design and manufacturing company started in 1998 by a couple of Los Angeles based audiophile music-lovers, who are architects by profession. Having failed in their search for “soul-satisfying” loudspeakers – at real world prices – their innovative instincts (and training) convinced them that they had an opportunity here: to create something special by “thinking out of the box” (!).

Given their connections with India, manufacturing was set up offshore so that they could bring to the music-lover a series of components that were extremely high quality but bereft of the stratospheric prices that normally accompany high-end audio components.

Rethm launched its first loudspeaker, the 2nd Rethm, in January 2000, at THE SHOW at Las Vegas. It launched its second model, the 3rd Rethm, at Home Entertainment 2002, in New York. Our “statement” speaker, the 1st Rethm, is ready to go into production, but launch has been delayed due to the perceived slowing down of the world economy. The company is therefore concentrating its efforts on less expensive models, of which the 4th rethm was launched in 2003 and 5th rethm in 2005.

The company has also started manufacturing two other components: cables (both loudspeaker, and interconnect), and equipment racks. Rethm takes its decisions to design and manufacture a product only if it feels that it can produce something unique and radical – and that offers a performance and musicality that is way out of proportion to its price. One of the founding ideals of the company was to produce exceptional (and unique) audio equipment that would be accessable to the music lover of average means.
